David Scully Endorses
State of California
A Proven Leader
David Scully, The Father of Conservative Talk Radio,
started it all 21 years ago
when he established a student organization
at California State University in Sacramento.
In a series of 7 or 8 weekly newsletters in 1982,
he wrote the script for the Rush Limbaugh program,
taking on the shallow, extremist liberals
on their own turf, challenging the liberals' shallow
hypocrisy, especially in education.
David set the trend for the conservative
intellectual and critical discourse
that flourishes today on a.m. radio and
the FOX channel. It's powerful presence
has created a sea-change in political
discourse throughout the nation and,
by example, throughout the world.
Dave rocked the educational community
and the intellectual community in Sacramento.
He took on the extremists and was politically
incorrect when no one knew what the term meant.
Two years later, in 1984, Rush Limbaugh came
to Sacramento and, using the far-reaching medium
of radio, plowed through the ice
that Dave Scully had broken two years earlier
at great personal and professional sacrifice.
Rush took on the nazis - the feminazis,
the econazis, the race baiters, just as Dave
had started doing two years earlier in Sacramento,
and Rush made roads of the paths Dave had pioneered.
And, though Dave was blacklisted by the liberals
in education, and forgotten by conservatives,
he harbors no bitterness
and beams with pride at Rush's success
and upon the vibrant intellectual discourse
that he, Dave Scully, pioneered.
That's Leadership !
A One Man Vanguard !
In 2003, Diane Ravitch, with the Hoover Institute,
published "The Language Police,
How Pressure Groups Restrict What Students Learn".
It is a highly regarded work,
by education's most esteemed scholar,
which rails against language and
thought censorship which has been internalized
by publishers and educators, resulting in
ridiculous, bland, boring textbooks.
In "The Languge Police", Dr. Ravitch
frequently quotes and references
Orwell and Orwell's "1984".
Thus, Ravitch illustrates
how Orwell's dire predictions
have become today's reality.
In 1982, 21 years earlier, Dave Scully
wrote and published a series of newsletters
in which he railed against
language and thought control,
especially in education, and
especially as enforced by liberals.
"It's like '1984'", Mr. Scully explained,
to a chorus of scorn and mockery.
Yet Time Has Proven Him Right.
And he's never backed down on his positions.
That's Courage !
That's Character !
