ON THE OTHER HAND, Trump has let the slaughter go on in Ukraine and Gaza, for seven months now, 
WHEN HE COULD HAVE STOPPED FUNDING AND SUPPLYNG AND SUPPORTING Ukraine and Israel ON INAUGURATION DAY IN JANUARY!
So maybe Trump is just making a virtue of a necessity now, seeing Russia's imminent victory in Ukraine, and seeing Israel battered with missiles a month ago.
And Trump now is suddenly so concerned about the hundreds of Ukrainians dying daily in battle (and sometimes civilians in the low single digits),
but he continues to fund and supply the starvation and crushing and burning to death of the pretty little girls in Gaza.

So, if you follow the four scholars above, and other experts posted on other pages (like Ritter who sees Trump as a weak man, Wilkerson, Mearscheimer, Max Blumenthal,
Wilkerson, Diesen, Aaron Mate, Anya Parampil, Crooke, Shaffer, and more ... you will be informed of the events, which you can compare to reports from international 
news media outlets and contrast against liberal/neocon msm feeds.
My conclusion is I HOPE Trump is a clever, contriving opportunist - opportunist is Doctorow's assessment. The assessments of the others are not so flattering.
But if he IS sane, as Doctorow's assessment implies, I worry about his values (he could have stopped the Ukraine war and Gaza slaughter already).
When he is being deceptive, we don't know to whom he is being deceptive.  He seems to be pretty much completely under the domination of the neocons in the U.S. 
and according to the explanations of Napolitano's contributors, THAT's BAD.  It's war, war, war, kill, kill, kill, dominate, dominate, dominate, divide, divide,
divide, AND IT AIN'T WORKIN'.  Trump has attacked Yemen and Iran, and Iran is backed by Russian, China, and nuclear Pakistan.
Do you REALLY think Iran has developed hypersonics, if the U.S. can't even do it?  WE ARE CONSTANTLY ON THE BRINK OF NUCLEAR WAR AND PROVOKING IT.
WE NEED GROWN-UPS RUNNING THIS COUNTRY.

PRESIDENT TRUMP ACTED GROWN-UP FRIDAY WITH PRESIDENT PUTIN.  I HOPE THAT NORMALIZES.  TRUMP BETTER NOT BETRAY PUTIN.
THE LITMUS TEST (and I don't think he'll pass either of them, though I hope he does) IS
1.  STOP SUPPORTING AND ARMING Ukraine NOW! (like TODAY, Saturday 8/16/2025 - no later than Monday), AND
